The Nasca culture developed in one of the most arid regions of ancient Peru, and for this reason its ideology placed great emphasis on fertility. This exhibit demonstrated how the art of the Nasca culture, and particularly the image of the orca, reflected the culture’s concern for the fertility of plants, animals and the people themselves. The display was mounted with the collaboration of five of Peru’s leading museums.
